Yup, this one is worth the hype! We arrived around 5:30pm on a Tuesday expecting a line, but we had come at the right moment, and we were seated outside immediately. The Burrata pizza was a standout to me. We also ordered the cheese with pepperoni to go. We had ordered it after the first pie and were told it might be a wait. We said no worries and that we'd be happy to wait in the to go line to free up the table, but the pizza came just as we were about to move. I also ordered the peach cobbler ice cream, which was good as well.
The pizza and seasonal squash appetizer was to the point and scrumptious. However, I hope they took a few mins to warm those frozen brownies to elevate the dessert experience or at-least have tiramisu in the menu. Oh! Don't forget the wait-times. I don't think I can stand in a queue 30 mins before it's opening and wait over an hour after to get a table. At the same time, I was lucky to have friends who did that so I don't have to. However, going after 7:30 seems to show less wait-times or atleast that's what I noticed. Their pizza and appetizers are worth the try but I would recommend skipping the dessert here. Not sure if it is worth the hype, though I am no pizza expert but I must say, i would go back for the pizza. Waiting for it, I'm still struggling to accept that part. I will try my luck post 7 next time. The place is loud and casual. The service can be slow considering the rush. But the server makes sure you don't feel unattended.
This place does not disappoint and man is it tasty!! Came on a Friday night around 6pm and it was already about an hour wait with a long line. They have indoor and outdoor seating which outdoor is fine in the summer! Definitely a very well known place so expect to wait at the regular dinner times. The hostess was great about telling us when to come back so we were able to go and grab a drink at a bar down the street. For drinks they have selections of wine and then also cocktails. The service is great and the pizza and food is even better!! Appetizers: Caesar salad- perfect amount of dressing and so tasty Meatballs- sooo delicious! Large meatballs with great red sauce. Pizzas are Neopolitan style which I love the thin crust and they are cooked perfectly. Brooklyn- definitely my favorite! I loved the capicolo and the hot honey Fennel and sausage pizza- also so delicious with great flavors. This place is definitely worth the hype but be prepared to wait or come at a less busy time to enjoy!
5th best pizza in Portland of the ~25 spots I've tried. Apparently Ken's has the longest wait time in town for pizza, so I don't see myself coming back very often. I read it can be up to a 3 hour wait, it's definitely not good enough to wait that long. We came on a Friday night so I was worried, but we were seated outside after 45 minutes. We ordered the roasted summer squash, calamari, mushroom pizza, Margherita pizza, and fennel sausage & onion pizza. Everything was really good, my favorite pizza was the sausage & onion. Service was solid, they did forget my friend's beer. Definitely worth checking out, but if the wait is over an hour, just go to Baby Doll pizza down the block! It's not quite as good, but you probably won't have to wait for a table.
Love the food and the service! Was super packed when I arrived on a weeknight with the wait around 45minutes. I tried the Cesar salad and margarita pizza and I absolutely loved both items. I left incredibly full and satisfied and would definitely be coming back!
We essentially take every out of town visitor to get pizza here. Delicious pizza. Ken Forkish (author of that famous sourdough book you probably have all seen "Flour Water Salt Yeast" ) founded this restaurant originally. They are well known, so be prepared for a wait. The process: Put your name down (a line generally forms before opening on busy weekend days), and they generally give you an estimate if you are not within the first group. Check back periodically to see how the wait is going. When they made the list of top pizza's in the world, the line became even longer. They do have some bar seating area if you want to sit inside and wait. The area around the restaurant is nice to walk around as well (there's some food carts a block down where you can grab some drinks and sit by a fireplace) If you go during the weekday, it's typically much easier to snag a table. Our favorite is the mushroom but you really can't go wrong with any of the pizzas. The calamaris is also delicious (not your typical fried calamari appetizer either)
Some may call me a pizza hater for how I dislike select kinds of pizzas. Ken's is not one of them. I had my hesitations, one being having to stand in line 40 minutes before opening. Would the wait be worth it? 3 of us were able to snag bar seating. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, which was served to us graciously. The calamari is a MUST. It's a perfectly balanced dish. Now the pizza, the margherita and soppressata were both hits. The thin crust, the woodfire aroma, and the beautifully fresh and bright ingredients were all the reasons why pizza fans and haters alike would enjoy. YES the pizza was worth the wait.
Atmosphere: Nice atmosphere Food: The pizzas were good but given the long wait lists and hype, I thought it was not quite as good as hyped up to be. Neapolitan style is one that is easy to find around town so I would probably go elsewhere for the shorter lines. It was good though. Really enjoyed the wine too which I don't usually like Price: Price was reasonable especially given the crowd and hype Service: Excellent service Parking: Street parking
